Not currently. While the NIGP Certification Commission may consider the option for remote testing in the future, there are currently no recognized standards for delivering remote testing via online proctoring and monitoring:
- There is no scholarly research to demonstrate the validity and equivalence of online proctoring and monitoring to other modes of delivery.
- There is no standardization in online proctoring and monitoring environments thus possibility impacting fairness to candidates.
- There are security risks for cheating and loss of intellectual property (test items, test forms, etc.) with online proctoring and monitoring.
- There are no standards for delivering exams in compliance with Americans with Disabilities (ADA) candidates
- There are issues associated with the security of personal information (PI) and personally identifiable information (PII) and the laws and regulations surrounding personal privacy when using online proctoring and monitoring.
- There are issues associated with the technology for online proctoring and monitoring.
